Band Placement

As 7th and 8th graders, students are placed by ability into three ensembles:

Honor Winds

The varsity band. Students are placed through competitive audition. Honor Winds performs at the highest level and represents the school at UIL Contest, All-City events, and special performances.

Symphonic Band

The non-varsity band. Symphonic Band students develop advanced ensemble skills and perform at concerts, UIL Contest, and school events.

Concert Band

The sub non-varsity band. Concert Band provides a supportive environment for continued musical growth with regular performance opportunities.

Performance Schedule

Our performance schedule includes:

  • Fall, Winter, and Spring Concerts

  • December Elementary Tour

  • UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest

  • Pep rallies throughout the year

  • Coppell HS Football game performance

  • All-City Band auditions (7th & 8th grade)

  • CISD Solo and Ensemble Contest

Concert Attire

All advanced band students are required to wear appropriate concert attire for performances. Specific requirements vary by ensemble and will be communicated by directors at the beginning of each semester. Students should ensure their concert attire is clean, pressed, and ready before each performance.

Sectional Schedules

Sectionals are small-group rehearsals organized by instrument section. They apply to Symphonic Band and Honor Winds, but Concert Band students are strongly encouraged to attend.
